About the Academy:

The VVAA is a foundation level course on victims' rights, services, experiences of crime and details of its aftermath. The Academy is a practical, interactive training presented by knowledgeable and passionate professionals from a variety of fields. This course is appropriate for all providers whose work intersects victim services and crime. Previous Academy attendees are welcome to apply as there have been many changes in the field of Victim Services. The updated curriculum combines real-world cases and examples and uses a number of different resources to promote engagement and retention.

Advanced Training

In addition to the basic overview trainings offered through the VVAA, we also offer more in-depth trainings on specific topics. These topics can include contemporary issues, relevant laws, protocols, and procedures.

The Center for Crime Victim Services organizes, hosts, and participates in conferences throughout Vermont and the Northeast.

Technical Assistance and Training Design Consultation

The Training Department staff work with agency partners to offer in-depth training to advocates and victim service professionals. We are available to present mini trainings and workshops on victim issues at agency and organizational staff meetings or retreats. We offer technical assistance for planning forums, trainings, conferences and other learning events to programs that receive funding through or who partner with CCVS.

Contact the Training Department at outreach@ccvs.vermont.gov for details about the trainings we can offer and customize for your organization.
